THE DISSONANT STATES?

The Dissonant States is the blog of pianist Adam Tendler, and a companion to his forthcoming memoir about the America 88x50 tour.

AMERICA 88x50?

America 88x50 was a completely independent, completely unsponsored recital tour that Adam Tendler created and conducted out of his Hyundai and offered for free to underserved communities in all fifty states.

ADAM TENDLER?

Trained at Indiana University School of Music under such legendary figures as Shigeo Neriki, Karen Shaw, Emile Naumoff, Evelyn Brancart, and Luba Dubinsky, I have gone on to perform internationally, direct new music initiatives across the country, and serve as an announcer and contemporary music liaison for NPR and Pacifica radio stations nationwide.  An active and proudly ‘out’ pianist, composer, writer, curator, arts advocate, and teacher in New York City, I will tour in 2012 with a memorized performance of John Cage’s complete Sonatas and Interludes to honor the composer’s centenary including a New York City debut at the Rubin Museum and currently serve as the founding director of a daily music series at Soho House New York.  I have a protest piece for school band premiering later this year, and a theatre work called “things i’ve never done in public” premiering at Dixon Place Experimental Theatre in New York City’s Lower East Side this spring.
